Shane is also the 5th candidate on the Green Party London-wide Assembly list.
Shane Collins has been a member of the Green Party for 19 years. In Lambeth, he is a board member of the Lambeth Community Police Consultative Group. He is the national Green Party Drugs spokesperson and was the licencee for the Annual Cannabis March & Festival in London from 1999 - 2004. Shane has been a long time community activist in Brixton as a core member of CoolTan Arts from 1991-1995, then Ecotrip 1996-98. Currently involved in 'Transition Town Brixton' looking at how peak oil and energy decent will affect the borough.
Shane has a high media profile and is a well known national 'green' campaigner. He played a prominent part in the anti-roads campaign of the early 90's, being arrested at Twyford Down and Newbury in a successful campaign to overturn the Tories road building programme. Shane was also involved in the formation of Reclaim the Streets.
He worked on the Nader campaign with the New York Greens in the 2000 US Presidential elections.
In 2006 Shane missed out becoming a Councillor in Lambeth by 16 votes on a recount.
