Shasha Khan (aged 36) was born in Islington and has lived in London all his life. He now lives in the north of Croydon. He is the Operations Director for his family's business and is a volunteer mentor for Croydon Young People's Project. In 2000 he received an entry in the book ‘Asians in the Millennium' for his charity work. In 2007 he was selected by London Sustainability Exchange to be a Diverse London Ambassador
Shasha continues to be key to the growth of the Greens. The party is now seen by many as the third party in Croydon. He regularly appears in the local newspapers.
Shasha joined the Green Party in 2002 because of the war in Iraq. He also felt that the other parties were ignoring environmental issues and inequality. He has stood in council, London Assembly and parliamentary elections.
Shasha co-founded the successful Friends of the Park Group for Thornton Heath Recreation Ground. He has actively supported many campaigns in his home borough of Croydon. These include Save Our Schools, which he co-founded too. He is also:
• on the ward panel for Bensham Manor's Safer Neighbourhood Team; and
• Secretary of the Bensham Manor Community Association.
Shasha is Parliamentary Candidate for the Croydon North constituency for the Green Party at the General Election.
