Julia Stephenson writes the green lifestyle column, the Green Goddess, in ''The Independent'' every Thursday. She also writes extensively on environmental subjects for the ''Evening Standard'' and the ''Sunday Times'', has published two bestselling novels and is writing a third. She has appeared frequently on television and radio discussing environmental and animal welfare issues.
An active member of the Green Party she has twice been a Parliamentary candidate in Kensington and Chelsea, and has stood in the past three council elections. She is currently turning her flat into an eco-friendly home, and hopes to be able to manufacture enough energy to sell some back to the National Grid.
