Sarah Edwards
Edwards has lived in Ealing borough for 10 years and has represented the Green Party in local, national and GLA elections. This is the second time that she has stood as Assembly Member candidate for the Ealing and Hillingdon constituency.
Sarah is currently employed as a coordinator for a national service for victims of crime. After graduating, she began her career in residential social work, and has since then worked mainly in London for local and national charities. Her roles have included service management, national policy work and developing new services; in particular she was instrumental in helping to set up one of the first Dial-a-Ride services. Sarah has served on the board of trustees of several local and national charities, including a local youth club and the National Association of Volunteer Bureaux.
Sarah has been active in the green movement for many years and has campaigned on a range of social justice and environmental issues. She has been coordinator of a Friends of the Earth group and was a founder member of a recycling co-op in West London. In recent years she has been particularly involved in campaigns on tackling climate change; opposing the war in Iraq; promoting sustainable and affordable transport; protecting green spaces from development and supporting local services. Sarah is very concerned about social justice issues, such as civil liberties and inequality, and strongly supports the Green Party's policies on these issues. A member of the Unite union, she has also served as a workplace union representative.
